Kindness thy name is Humanity

The sole purpose of humanity is to serve others – I have always felt and am now close to believing.
As a part of growing, a dash of this is reflected as so naturally one cares for a pet, or a friend, a sibling, a plant in the backyard, or the bird that has made a nest on the chimney or the window sill. The care gets extended to the house-maid that does the cleaning & mopping, or the chauffer who patiently drives and takes us places, or the boy who serves us food at the restaurant, or a troubled soul noticed close by. The care comes either in return of the care received or a need is felt – very humane.
Ever wondered – how would it feel if you wake up on a day realizing that no one needs you?!!

While most of us feel like working for the society, few actually do - for some this is to be taken up after retirement when there is ample time to spare, while for some on winning a lottery. Rarely do we realize that after retirement, while there will be time, there might not be strength (health). Chances of winning a lottery is one in a million provided one buys a ticket! :-)

Giving, like prayer, has to become part of living – performed in small bits regularly.
About my connect to all of this :- can’t recall how or when exactly this entered into my system, but it is seeping in more and more with time – most of the time not by design (calling?). Causes or people connected with them, somehow just appear out of nowhere and pull me through – feels good!!
What I love to share most is about two girls from SOS village - my virtually adopted daughters (sponsored), that’s how this particular connection got formed and is now extended to the entire family of eleven kids in the house. They wait for me to visit, take my advice super seriously, love to share their achievements and other updates, and remember my B’day even! These are special bonds that are not easily explained or understood, but add a sense of purpose to existence. Each time I visit that place, I try and take someone along – to extend the experience to be able to witness the system closely - most of the time that converts to more hearts and hands supporting the kids. One has to be there to feel connected, like one has to pause to notice the beauty of nature, or smell the roses.
The connect with various groups that work for social causes, like NGOs, or education institutes are the extended circle that keeps the energy flowing, and efforts happen. Surrounding oneself with minds that have similar thoughts and interests surely helps. Through this blog I would attempt to bring some more caring souls into the ground, and/or share avenues to get started and contribute - it might just help.

We live in a world of extremes, and India is an epitome, where we find the people with huge disparity in income, qualification, economic class, living conditions, and cultural diversity. Such demographics provide massive opportunities to contribute – ever wondered how many registered NGO/NPO operate here? There is still enough room for us to contribute, they need us…look around – there will be a reason that needs the kindness that only your heart emanates.
Happy Caring!
